University of Nebraska Kearney

The University of Nebraska Kearney (UNK) is one of the four campuses of the University of Nebraska. It was opened in 1905 and called the Nebraska State Normal School at Kearney. UNK has been ranked a Top 10 Public Midwest Regional University by U.S. News & World Report. Furthermore, the Report has ranked the UNK online graduate education programs as eighth in the country. The University of Nebraska at Kearney is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Most of the UNK online undergraduate degree programs are designed for degree completion. They include Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Organizational & Relational Communication Comprehensive, and Sociology. There are three lines of study available for Early Childhood Unified. They are ECU BA degree (a degree completion program), ECU Initial Certification (in lieu of a traditional Bachelor’s degree), and ECU Additional Endorsement (for students who already hold a Bachelor’s degree in teaching). Pre-Speech Language Pathology offers 32 online credit hours but not a degree. Vocational Diversified Occupations Endorsement has six credit hours of online instruction but not a degree.

UNK offers 25 online programs for students who have already attained a Bachelor’s Degree. The programs are designed for students to earn endorsements, certificates, or a graduate-level degree. The areas of study include, Art Education, Teaching English as a Second Language, Education Administration (four levels), Special Education (three areas of focus), Physical Education, Music Education, Spanish Education, and History.

Online applications are available for both undergraduate and graduate student admission. Tuition is charged by the credit hour and varies by program and by level of course work. There is a schedule of tuition rates available on the UNK online website.
