Abilene Christian University

Abilene Christian University is located in Abilene, Texas. The institution was founded in 1906 as Childers Classical Institute. It officially became known as Abilene Christian College in 1920 and achieved university status in 1976. As of Fall 2012, Abilene Christian University has an enrollment of 4,371 students. ACU is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. Many of these degrees are undoubtedly awarded as a result of Abilene Christian’s numerous online graduate degree programs. Degrees offered online through Abilene Christian are the Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution and Conciliation, the Master of Arts in Global Service, the Master of Education in Higher Education, the Master of Education in K-12 Education, and the Master of Science in Organizational and Human Resource Development. Non-degree certificate programs for Superintendency, Conflict Resolution, Leadership of Digital Learning, and Conflict Resolution for Educators are also available online.

One of the most recognized online departments at Abilene Christian University is its online Graduate Studies in Education program. ACU offers two online Master’s degrees in Education: Higher Education and K-12 Education. Concentration areas for the K-12 Education degree are Principal Leadership, Leadership of Digital Learning, and Conflict Resolution for Educators. The Higher Education degree is designed for students who are interested in further training to work in administrative roles at the college or university level. ACU accepts applications for its education graduate program six times per year. Materials required for admission are the application and a $50 application fee. ACU’s education graduate program has been granted initial accreditation by the Teacher Education Accreditation Council.

ACU also offers two M.A. degrees that assist in several professional areas. The Conflict Resolution program prepares graduates to handle conflict in settings that include businesses, schools, and ministry. The Global Service program prepares students for influence on a global scale, particularly Christian service.
